2006 LG Action Sports Championships

EVENT OVERVIEW:     The LG Action Sports Championships is the season-ending World Championships for Skateboarding, BMX, Inline Skating and Freestyle Motocross (FMX). The event serves as the “Super Bowl” for the booming world of action sports.

The athletes will qualify for this invitational event based on their worldwide results from the 2006 contest season. Only the top 50 pros from each sport globally will qualify for the event.

Besides containing all of the top superstars in action sports, the event also includes five top bands performing live, an interactive sponsors expo, DJ’s, break-dancing, graffiti artists and mixers.

LOCATION:   Reunion Arena in Dallas, TX
     
DIRECTIONS:   Reunion Arena is uniquely located in vibrant downtown Dallas, next to the landmark Reunion Tower/Hyatt Regency Hotel. This high profile location is easily accessible from two major interstate highways (I30 and 35E). In addition, two major light rail stations service the arena providing unmatched convenience for attendees. Handicap access to Reunion Arena is located at Lot B just off of Sports Street.

PARTICIPANTS:   The event features two hundred (200) of the top professional and amateur athletes from skateboarding, BMX, inline skating and Freestyle Motocross, including all the biggest names in those sports. It is annually the best field of talent of any event in action sports, and consists of athletes from 23 countries.

MUSIC:   Live concerts from 5 major bands:
The Deftones, will be launching their North American Tour at the event and playing on Oct 27. Unwritten Law and 1 more band TBA will play on Oct 28. Evans Blue and Shinedown will be playing on Oct 29. The Yard, featuring break-dancing, DJ’s, graffiti artists & more.

PRIZE MONEY:   $650,000 (the largest per sport prize money in history)
     
TICKETS:   Tickets are only $15 and available at Ticketmaster.com and the American Airlines Center box office. There are five individually ticketed sessions. Each session will include two major World Championships competitions, freestyle motocross shows and a major concert.
     
ACTIVITIES:  

* Freestyle Motocross exhibitions
* Festival Village with sponsor booths, exhibits and video games
* Autograph signings throughout the weekend

     
TV PROGRAMMING:   The event features a minimum of sixteen (16) hours of international television coverage and will be distributed on a worldwide basis to more than 600 million homes in 180 countries. In the USA, the event will have:
* 2 hours of coverage in the US on CBS
* 24 hours of coverage in the US on OLN
     
MANAGEMENT:   The event is managed and operated by ASA Events, the largest action sports event and TV production company in the world.
