BMX Street Finals
By Mike Vincent

Today the LG Action Sports World Tour took over the streets of Berlin.  Although the skies seemed dark and cloudy, BMX street finals went down without any problems.  With occasional rain over the weekend, the schedule got compressed and the prelims became the finals.

Have you ever been to Berlin?  Do you ride a BMX bike?  If you haven’t been to Berlin yet, you should plan a visit soon.  It’s a beautiful city with many talented BMXers and tons of great riding spots.  Everyone is so friendly and today’s spectators were proof of that.  If you didn’t witness today’s competition, here’s what happened…

10th place--  Sven “Sprosse” Lehmann--  A young local from Berlin made his city proud.  Lots of good style that you would expect from someone that rides MellowPark everyday.  Click turndowns, 360 lookbacks, and tailwhips everywhere.

9th place--  Sergey Geyer--  This kid has style and some technical skills.  Lots of big tricks, like:  no handers, footjam tailwhips, and barspin 360 tailtaps.

8th place--  Markus Wilke--  Markus is no stranger to the LG Action Sports World Tour.  It’s also common to see Markus in the finals at these big competitions.  He’s got the big tricks, style, and the technical skills.  360 sprocket to revert, back flips, 360 tailtaps, fakie wall taps, and every tech grind in the book.

7th place--  Koji Kraft--  Koji goes big, but unfortunately he sometimes crashes very big.  Huge turndown flips, down whips, tailwhips, but a couple big tricks didn’t go his way.  Koji is always entertaining to watch, though.

6th place--  Alessandro Barbero--  All the way from Italy, Alessandro always throws down the big tricks.  Tailwhip tailtaps, 360 whips, and double whips.  I think Alessandro tailwhipped every ramp on the course.

5th place--  Bjorn Mager--  Another Berlin resident and MellowPark local, Bjorn showed everyone what goes down within the Berlin BMX scene.  Huge tailwhip backflips, crazy 720s, front flips, 360 whips, and hand plants.  This kid wasn’t playing around.

4th place--  Tom Haugen--  Tom seems to do well at nearly every LG event.  He’s no stranger to the LG Action Sports World Tour, and he’s got the big tricks to prove it.  360 x-ups, tailwhip tailtaps, fakie wall taps, double tailwhips, and 180 tailwhip to fakie over the spine.

3rd--  Steven McCann--  Over the past year, Steve has had some bad luck with injuries.  Although his first run didn’t go well, his second run was jam-packed with action.  720s, 540s, flairs, no handers, 270 truck drivers, truck driver to x-up.  I think that proves that Steve is healthy now.

2nd place--  Tobias Wicke--  Yet another Berlin resident and MellowPark local, Tobias is the current LG Action Sports World Champion.  If you’ve never seen Tobias ride, he’s got it all.  Big tricks like front flips, tailwhip backflips, no handed flips, double whips, and a plethora of technical skills like boomerang nosepicks, and down side tooth picks.

1st place--  Dave Dillewaard--  Dave is one rider that will never disappoint you.  He’s nearly seven feet tall but he’s got the skills to make a bike do whatever he wants.  360 whips, 360s both ways, ice pick the sub box, barspin 360 tailtaps, and the list goes on.

That wraps up the details of the Berlin BMX street finals.
