V Spells Victory for Vieira
Skateboarding Street Finals Recap
By Eric Kirkwood
Birmingham, England was the site for Daniel Vieira's second of two back-to-back wins in the LG Action Sports World Tour street finals. With a field of twenty-seven competitors and only a handful able to put together full runs, the standouts . . . well, stood out.
Ross McGouran pulled a beauty of a 360 melon up the wedge to mini gap. Amir Williams frontside rocked the wall extension both runs and ended up in a respectable 7th.
Rodney Clarke and Fabio Sleiman both threw down the ledge combo with backside 50/50s down the short ledge to backside 5-0s down the big ledge. Rodney also threw down a smooth feeble down the long rail in his second run landing him in fifth place.
Fabio Sleiman skated ferociously around the course with big ollies and grab variations to end up in sixth. Fabio gets credit for finding the biggest gap on the course to launch. Just after time ran down, Fabio blazed over his gap to wow the crowd . . . Ripper!
Jose Manual Roura rock and rolled the big wall extension, one of the less ridden areas of the course. Between the rock and a well comprised, flowing run, Jose took fourth place honors.
Josh Rouillon stayed on through a well rounded run including back tailslides, k-grinds, ollies and a No Comply on the big bank putting him in 3rd.
Juergen Horrwarth is a true all terrain skate machine. Juergen's first run had grinds, flips, slides and airs including a 50/50 on the big rail which was enough to sit him runner up to the man of the day . . .
Daniel Vieira was untouchable as he skated through two flawless runs. Although his first run was already enough to secure the win, Daniel upped the ante on his second run by adding a kickflip frontside grab and a mammoth 360 flip to an already technically stuffed run. Thanks to all of the blokes who came out and had a go here in lovely (pronounced-LUFFELEE) Birmingham.
