Booze, Shoes, Mayhem: Ed Hardy Shoes Throws a Swank One
Event Party Report
By Chris Mitchell
The French didn’t invent the velvet rope, but they sure know how to wield it. When Ed Hardy Shoes offered to throw us a party in Paris, we figured it would be a mellow affair with a lot of red wine and a little accordion music. And maybe a mime. What we didn’t know was that, because Ed Hardy is based in France, these people have it dialed.
The party didn’t start until midnight, so we passed around bottles of Vodka and wine in the lobby of the hotel until everyone was blurry. When we got up to leave, Fabiola came back from a bistro where she got in a fight with a French waiter that ended with her kickboxing his nuts. We didn’t know it then, but that was to be the theme for the night.
We rolled up the Champs Ellyses, past Christian Dior and Louis Vuitton windows. Everywhere we looked, Ferrari doors were opening and beautiful drunk girls were staggering onto the streets in stilettos. We walked past club after club, looking for the right address, and eventually we found it. The Ed Hardy party had the longest line of all, and the girls out front had the shortest skirts. The French dandies in line didn’t give us a second look as we rolled past them in T-shirts and sneakers, but when the velvet rope dropped for our group, I learned a few new French swear words.
Inside, the booze was already flowing. Ed Hardy had reserved the VIP lounge for the LG Action Sports World Tour and decorated a dozen tables with bottles of vodka and Scotch. It didn’t take long for Renton Millar and Chris Gentry to empty their bottles. Nicolas Schopfer was spotted toasting the LG execs (negotiating a contract?) and Ross McGouran was slowly sliding under his table.
If there was a strict dress code for guys, there was an iron-clad hot code for girls. The dance floor was wall to wall 10s with more than a few looking like they were about to lose their tops. Every time somebody ordered a bottle ($260), it was brought out on a tray with a firework.
It wasn’t long until our group caught the eye of the bouncers. After a relatively calm couple of hours, skaters started getting bounced. Skateboard street silver medalist, Chris Oliver was shown the door, as was Renton. A few people managed to dodge the surly security, and for that, they were rewarded with an all night party with the hottest girls in Paris.
Thanks to Ed Hardy Shoes for a killer night and an amazing sunrise!
