Takeshi Takes It Back
Inline Vert Finals Recap

After his first place finish in the prelims, Marc Englehart was up all night doing a rain dance. We thought there would be massive rains on this Sunday but they barely came, and when they did, it was short lived. The finals would go down with as much electricity as we’ve seen all tour.
Borja Fernandez came crashing down on his second run and the front row heard his knee go POP! Lets hope for the best for Borja. I think Marc thought way too much about having to try to defend his first place position and it showed. He did manage to throw a nice 1080 in the middle of his first run along with his 540s and alley oop soul but it would only land him in 5th place.
The biggest shocker of the day was Sven Boekhorst who had some of the best lip tricks including a 360 front side farfergnugen and a 270 alley oop topside porn star. He also laid down a fakie 900, 540,720 and alley oop topside soul. It was pretty rad. Sven, for this you get 4th.
Taig, who thinks he has a broken wrist from attempting his new fabulous trick, skated pretty well - well enough for 3rd place. Solid double backflips and Gatto spins put him there.
So with all that said, it was down to Takeshi Yasutoko and Shane Yost. Shane has won the last two events so you know Takeshi was out for blood. Shane did his usual bag of tricks that you can’t even comprehend in slow-mo: 900s, flat 540s, double flat spins, mctwist and fakie 900 just for kicks. It was a solid run but lacked a little how do you say… je ne sais quoi.
But it was Japan’s golden boy, Takeshi Yasutoko who was le merde of the vert ramp today! He came out and killed it, massive 12ft airs with a line that went something like a Viking flip to double flat spin with a tweaked method in the middle, then on the next wall another Viking flip. It was hot, so hot his lip tricks were on fire as well. Imagine a 270 backslide to an alley oop topside acid. Wicked.
