The Starting Line rocked the house in Pheonix

The Starting Line got its start in 1999 in Churchville, Pennsylvania. According to legend, Guitarist Matt Watts sent an email to vocalist/bassist Kenny Vasoli, asking if the then fourteen-year-old Vasoli, who was at that time in a band called Smash Adams, was interested in Òjamming and shit.Ó A few weeks later, Vasoli found himself rehearsing with his future band-mates Watts, guitarist Mike Golla and drummer Tom Gryskewicz.

Soon, the band started touring under the name Sunday Drive, selling out home-made merchandise and a self-recorded demo cassette titled Four Songs. When it turned out a Christian rock band had already laid claim to the name, the boys changed their name to The Starting Line.

In 2004, The Starting Line added Brian Shmutz to the lineup and headed out on the Nintendo Fusion Tour, and two years later, they signed with Virgin Records. In July 2007, the band finished recording their full-length album Direction with Howard Benson, and then immediately went on the road with the Warped Tour. The first singles, Island and Direction are now in rotation and the Island video hits MTV2 in early September.

Check out The Starting Line on myspace and on CBS when the Action Sports World Tour airs October 13.
