Top Action Sports Pros Invade San Diego

The Action Sports World Tour at the Mission Beach features a performance from MXPX

The Action Sports World Tour returns to San Diego September 14 - 16, at historic Belmont Park in Mission Beach, Calif. In addition to the world's best professional action sports athletes competing in skateboarding, BMX and in-line skating contests, history will be made with the inaugural "S3 Supergirl Jam" - a unique all-female skate and snow competition on Sunday, September 16., also featuring a live concert from national recording artists, the Donnas. Over the three-day weekend, participating athletes in both the Action Sports World Tour and S3 Supergirl Jam will compete for $100,000 in cash and prizes.

"Establishing the first legitimate multi-sport competitive platform for the growing number of female athletes in action sports has been a goal of ASA's that is now becoming a reality thanks to Warner Bros. Consumer Products, DC Comics and Supergirl," said Rick Bratman, President of ASA. "In the action sports world, we see how these young women are continuously breaking new ground and it's great to see their achievements being recognized as truly empowering."

On Friday and Saturday, the ASWT will feature superstar professionals such as Bucky Lasek, Pierre Luc Gagnon, Andy Macdonald, Sandro Dias, Kevin Robinson, Chad Kagy, Simon Tabron, Takeshi Yasutoko and Fabiola da Silva going head-to-head in BMX, skateboard and inline vert events for valuable qualifying spots into the LG Action Sports World Championships. In addition to the intense competition, live concert performances by will be offered on Friday and Saturday, including Saturday's featured artist, long-time post-punk/pop-rock national touring band MXPX.

On Sunday, a groundbreaking event will take place as top female athletes compete in skateboard street and snowboard rail jam competitions at the inaugural S3 Supergirl Jam. The S3 Supergirl Jam was created by Warner Bros. Consumer Products and ASA to celebrate the empowerment of these athletes. The event will also celebrate the Supergirl S-shield as a universally recognized symbol of strength and leadership-both traits embodied by today's action sports girl.

Entrance to the ASWT, including the concerts and competitions, is free of charge.  The event will be televised nationally on CBS as well as on Versus and Fuel TV in the U.S. as part of a platform that reaches more than one billion households globally.
